Miss Shankar is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists and leads the Acute Gynaecology Service at Kingston Hospital. She completed her higher specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology from the Trent region and London Deanery. She then spent two years as research fellow in the Early Pregnancy Unit and Fetal Medicine Unit at Royal Free Hospital London. She has obtained the RCOG/RCR diploma in advanced obstetric ultrasound and the RCOG certificate of special skills training in gynaecological ultrasound.

Miss Shankar provides private obstetric care and consulting for the following problems:

Early pregnancy problems
Acute and chronic pelvic pain
Menstrual disorders
Postmenopausal bleeding
Fibroids and Endometriosis
Other gynaecological problems

Her special interests include one-stop gynaecology (consulting, ultrasound and treatment in one visit), early pregnancy, menstrual disorders, labour and delivery, and ultrasound (obstetric and gynaecological).
